Megan Ashcroft
Phat, 2017 Photographic prints, unframed 3 x A4 £35 As someone who has been oppressed for being fat majority of their life I’ve decided the time has come to celebrate my body. Not just mine but every single fat body out there. I’ve spent a lot of time hating my fat lump of a body until I saw a photograph of myself- I still had rolls and wobbly arms but I looked so confident. It was then I decided I had to embrace it and not hate it. I really want others to love their bodies regardless of size. I created this work for a university project and I never liked the photos because I didn’t think they were necessarily my style. Over time I realised they had a hazy vibe and I quite liked the thought of them being dreamlike. The styling was originally following ‘80’s prom’. @m.ashcroft_ meg-ash.wixsite.com
