Invasion of Space Melted recycled plastic bag FOR SALE: Contact artist directly (www.siandormantextiles.co.uk/contact.html) A piece is from the 'Invasion of Space' project which is split into three areas, visual film documentation, abstract pre-collection of drawings and the final sculptural works. The sculptures are three-dimensional, textural and experimental melted recycled plastic bags. Focusing on fragmented lines, blurring and trailing, continuation of pattern, repetition, multiples, spontaneity vs. synchronisation. The foundation of each sculptural structure represents the congregation of people seen in the drawing collection. The three-dimensional layered, overlapping line (coming from the base), symbolising the dispersal of people. I am very interested in using alternative materials and techniques in my work and try to find ways to balance my works impact on the environment. All structures are made from consciously reused/recycled plastic carrier bags sourced through waste and donation. Reducing waste and reusing materials is a huge part of my practice. Siân Naomi Dorman (b. 1992) is a contemporary freelance Textiles Artist & Costume Designer in North London. Dorman graduated a BA Textiles Design course with first Class Hons at Chelsea College of Art & Design. She experiments with a vast array of materials and processes that more often than not, realise a 3D structural outcome. Her bold and expressive works can be interpreted as Sculpture or wearable Art. Dorman’s work varies in colour from project to project with the ability to produce both colourfully bold vibrant pieces as well as subtle monochrome. http://www.siandormantextiles.co.uk/
