Anonymous - Setting A Place For Us All, 2017 Framed Photographic Print 23 x 23 cm FOR SALE £35 (Email: [email protected]) "For most of history, Anonymous was a woman" Virginia Woolf. I made this piece drawing upon my continuing interest in assemblages using inherited & collected textiles. I was interested in reclaiming the beauty of the female and intentionally used a saccharine, pretty aesthetic which also subverts the use of domestic textiles & sewing trims. The piece is a homage of sorts to Judy Chicago's 'Dinner Party' & the work of Helen Chadwick, both who brought together a conceptual & sexual political approach to sculpture. I wanted to recognise the 'invisible women', making a work that is an imagined place setting at the the Dinner Party for all of us who are 'anonymous '. A symbolic conceptual work reclaiming feminine iconography. www.instagram.com/paula_fenwick_lucas/
